Welcome to Kylie's Life

Welcome to our site! My daughter Kylie had Alpers Disease, a rare genetic disorder that is characterized by unstopable seizures, progressive weakness, and eventually death.  She appeared to be a perfectly healthy child, except for gross motor delay until September 13, 2005 when she had a massive seizure that lasted at least 12 hours, and was stopped by putting her in a drug-induced coma.  It took over 3 months to get her devastating diagnosis.  We fought hard against the disease that kept weakening our little girl, took her sight, and eventually her life. She passed away on July 5, 2006 - she was 3 years, 3 months and 3 days old. We miss her more than any words can describe.

Garden Plan Is Unveiled

The plan for the garden has been completed and was unveiled to the public for the first time on Saturday May 12th at the first fundraiser of 2007.  Check out the Memorial Garden section of this Web site to view the plan.

The hardscape was marked at the garden Sunday May 13th and major work will begin soon to grade the space as desired and begin planting the many trees and plants we have already have.  It won't be long before the garden really starts taking shape!

Many Thanks

Heartfelt thanks to Shademakers of Oxford, OH for their invaluable assistance with the garden. Pulling everything together would be much harder without them.

Also thank you to Preble County MR/DD for their enthusiastic support of the garden. This partnership is making the garden a reality!
